The Department of Chemical Engineering held its first annual Conference on ‘The Role of Chemical Engineering in the Industrialization of Ethiopia’ on June 6, 2015. Department Head Enkahone Abebe opened the gathering by encouraging students to participate and reach out to new activities within and out side the University.
Guest speakers were Engr. Solomon Ambaye, Cement Mill & Packing Manager of Derba Midroc Cement Plc. and Engr. Mulugeta Moges, General Manager of BSM Trading PLC. Engr. Solomon discussed on
the role of engineering professionals while Engr. Mulugeta talked on the challenges and opportunities regarding the profession of chemical engineering in Ethiopian context.
The assembly was attended by chemical engineering teachers and its students from all levels. Chemical Engineering student Tesifalidet also presented his views about the profession and career paths that can be explored.
Another highlight of the event was the awarding of certificates of recognition to outstanding students.
The event was finally ended by inspirational remarks from DDIT Deputy Scientific Director Abraham
