Department of Computer Science Holds the 1st Annual Programming Week

The Department of Computer Science held its first Annual Programming Week on June 15-19, 2015 DDU Conference Hall.

Dr Girma Goro, DDU President, who addressed the opening speech, first expressed his pleasure to be part of the event of the 1st Annual Programming Week that held under the theme of ‘Introducing graduating students with the industry programming computer based and networking’; and then expressed the advancement of technology and its vitality to human beings since olden times.

He said that technology moves as fast as the world can, and since Ethiopia is part of the globe, it should cope up such fast movement presenting itself as competitive. He added that ‘technology must not only serve the rich but also those who are tempting financially; it must serve and take the best interest of the common man.’

He then congratulated the Department of Computer Science and its staff for organizing the event and called everyone’s attention to do its best and change the environment. Prior to the opening speech Scientific Director of the Dire Dawa Institute of Technology, Ato Getenet Sewnet made a welcoming speech.

In the event, invited guests, staff and students from Haramaya University, Jigjiga University and ict industries such as ict Centers of Excellence, IE Net-work Solution etc participated.
