DDIT to Offer a Capacity Building Training on Industrial and Basic Quality Management System

Research and Technology Transfer - Dire Dawa Institute of Technology in collaboration with Dire Dawa City Administration Trade, Industry and Investment Bureau has successfully conducted a capacity building training entitled “Industrial and basic quality management system for selected industry management staffs and industry development experts” from January 11 to 19, 2016.

It was conducted with the purpose to enhance or reinforce the link between University–Industry to assure the technological and economic development of the country of Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP) which is directed towards achieving Ethiopia’s long term vision of becoming middle income country by 2025.

Specifically, the capacity building training was aimed at providing key knowledge and skills about industrial and basic quality management system. Twenty industrial management staffs and ten industry development experts have successfully attended the training for 8 days.

In the training, for the first 4 days, basic concepts and principles of quality, quality planning, analysis techniques for quality costs, total quality management (TQM), role of senior management, quality council, barriers to TQM implementation, TQM principles, TQM tools and statistical process control (SPC) were given. For the last 4 days, an intensive training on industrial management focusing on principles of management, human and industrial relations, forecasting, leadership and human resource management were delivered to participants in attractive way.
